THE ESSENTIAL PUPPY GUIDE

So, you're adding a new puppy to your family? CONGRATS!

Before you dive into all the fun, you'll want to have a few essentials before you bring your pup home - dog bed, a dog crate and...lots of toys!

A dog bed gives your puppy their own little space to feel safe and secure and helps them settle into their new home.  In the first couple of months, you may want to place the bed in your crate, so you can contain your pup for naps or when you're away from home. Add a comforting toy (or 4) and your pup will feel calm and safe.  Read on below for our recommendations in each of these categories and why we think you'll like them.

PUPPY BEDS

Your puppy’s bed is their very own safe space. It helps to establish a routine, telling your pup that it's time to wind down and sleep. The type of bed you choose will vary based on a bunch of factors: the size of your pup, their personality, and even your home decor.  Beds in the shape of round  'donuts'  surround pups with warmth, making them feel safe and sleepy.  These can be a good choice for fearful pups. Bigger pups may need a square bed, which allow them to spread out, or cuddle up in a corner, as needed. Here are a few beds we think you'll like.

PUPPY CRATES

You’re going to need a sturdy dog crate for your new puppy. Crates can seem like a prison at first, but they’re actually very helpful, for both you AND your pup. Think of it as your pup’s personal den—a place where they can relax and feel protected. It’s also a lifesaver for potty training and keeping your home in one piece while you’re out.  Here are a few we suggest.

PUPPY TOYS

Let’s not forget toys—lots of them! Puppies are full of energy and love to explore the world with their mouths, so having a variety of toys is a must. Toys keep your puppy entertained, help with teething, and prevent them from getting bored (and chewing up your favorite shoes or furniture). These are a few of the toys our pups have loved over the years (and still love).
